Peer Inspection project

The Peer Inspection project is part of the Lambeth Youth Council. The Youth Council is an award-winning youth leadership and engagement project. It allows young people to make a difference in their lives, and the lives of others in the borough, through training and empowerment.

The Youth Council has four main projects:

  • Peer Education
  • Peer Inspection
  • Youth Mayor Initiative
  • UK Youth Parliament

The Peer Inspectors are a group of Young People who want to make a positive influence to the services and provision for young people in Lambeth.

This project allows them to have a real say in the way in which services are run within Lambeth.

The Lambeth Youth CouncilThe Peer Inspectors make an assessment of what they have found from visiting the services and compile a report using written work, photographs, PowerPoint presentations and videos.

The Peer Inspectors, along with workers from Children’s Services, make recommendations to youth clubs. The clubs are then given time to rectify any problems identified before a second inspection takes place.

The Peer Inspectors then receive a pot of money to provide funding for youth clubs they have inspected so that they are able to implement the recommendations the Peer Inspectors have made.
