Lambeth’s Member for Youth Parliament, Stephanie Harb, helped celebrate the work of young people who have been developing SMART phone ‘apps’ at an event in Brixton last night.

The event, recognising the work of young people involved in the ‘Apps for Good’ programme, was held at the Livity building on Brixton’s Brighton Terrace, and showcased apps that a group of young people had spent the last 6 weeks developing, with help from the Dell computer company.

The 3 mobile phone ‘apps’ that emerged from the weeks of intensive work are designed to help young people: find details of local recording studios; gather information about universities, their courses and facilities; and know their legal rights in the event that they are stopped and searched.

The event was attended by a host of local faces, including Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, Cllr Peter Robbins. Stephanie said: “It was a really great event, and I was impressed by all of the apps that the young people had produced. I think all of them will be very useful and will help young people to make informed decisions about their lives”.
