Lambeth’s Youth Mayor, Darren Tenkorang, and Member of Youth Parliament Stephanie Harb have met Mayor of London Boris Johnson at a reception in City Hall.

Since their election the young representatives have been campaigning to improve the lives of young people across the borough.

“We urged the London Mayor to develop opportunities for young people to get involved in volunteering, to help regenerate their local area, “ they said.

“As safe cycling in London is a priority for him, we lobbied him about encouraging more young people to cycle to and from school and college, “ they added.

We also asked him to help protect London’s young people from the upcoming spending cuts, with a particular focus on the Oyster free travel cards for young people, for which the Mayor has some responsibility.”

Darren and Stephanie enjoyed the occasion, and relished the chance to put their arguments to Boris Johnson.

“We argued the case for our policies strongly and will continue to campaign for them,“ they said.
