Lambeth’s Youth Mayor, Darren Tenkorang helped launch a newly-opened training centre yesterday – the first of its kind in London.

The Vox Centre is based at Kennington Oval and is run by the A4E group which supports adults and young people to find work. The centre provides training in fashion, building, catering and retail amongst many other areas, and has recently been the subject of a Channel 4 reality show, due to be screened later on in the summer.

Darren said: “The facilities here are great and give young people involved with the project a chance to become successful. We should all know the school environment is not for everyone, but that does not mean that people who have dropped out of school should not have the chance to achieve success”.

The centre will be offering places to young people across Lambeth from September this year.
