Members of Lambeth’s Youth Mayor Advisory Panel attended a young peoples’ film festival yesterday, showcasing the work of film-makers aged 13-19 from all over the world.

The Human Rights Watch ‘Youth Producing Change’ film festival is designed to give young people a voice, and highlight human rights issues affecting young people in different parts of the world.

The showcase, which had its UK premiere at Brixton’s Ritzy Picturehouse Cinema, featured 10 short films from countries as far afield as Mozambique, Armenia, Iran and America, and finished with a Question & Answer session with a number of the young film-makers.

Youth Mayor Advisory Panel member Steven Hughes said: “The film festival was really interesting, and there were a lot of films that made you think about what life is like for young people in other countries.  It was a great event, and I really enjoyed the Q&A with some of the film-makers afterwards”. For more information about Human Rights Watch you can visit the HRW website.
