Stephanie (Lambeth Member of Youth Parliament 2010)

Stephanie

I am currently at college studying history, French, maths, English literature and Arabic. I am a passionate, ambitious and hardworking student. My role model is my mum because she’s the one that taught me to be myself. I try to involve myself in as many activities as possible. As Jesus said: ‘the more doors you knock, the more will be opened.’

As member of youth parliament I think that I can make a difference because I’ve got a lot of experience which has made me more confident. I am a member of Envision, an organisation that helps to make a difference in the world. I am also my class representative. I mentor some students in secondary school, and I’ve taught in a school, voluntarily for four years.

I aim to raise the issues of health and the environment. I will encourage pupils to cycle to school at least once a week. This will make them fitter and it will also unite the community if everyone cycles together on the same day. Also, the idea of going to school would become fun! I could just picture it…

I want to encourage individuals to try and make a difference themselves, and let them appreciate the privileges they have. I will also listen to everybody’s needs and suggestions, and discuss with them what I could do to improve Lambeth and the world in general. Unity of the community is my aim.
